Spectacular STITCH photos

Despite awful weather on the Friday evening, Jo Fairfax and the FLOW team managed to pull off another spectacular laser installation, this time STITCH – a 3 mile installation of 8 laser beams connecting the historic boot and shoe making villages of Wollaston and Earls Barton in Northamptonshire.

STITCH is part of the countywide GLOBAL FOOTPRINT project which celebrates Northamptonshire’s unique boot and shoe industry and heritage.

As always we are incredibly grateful to the photographers who submit their photos to the FLOW website – more to follow!!!

STITCH – part of GLOBAL FOOTPRINT

Testing began last Tuesday evening from the top of Barker Shoes in Earls Barton, Northamptonshire, on the latest laser art installation STITCH by the FLOW team, this time as part of the GLOBAL FOOTPRINT project, a celebration of the county’s boot and shoe industry.

STITCH aims to connect the shared heritage of the boot and shoe making villages of Earls Barton and Wollaston (the home of Dr Martens) across the Nene Valley.  More information about the installation can be found here and via the GLOBAL FOOTPRINT wordpress site.

Thanks to artist Jo Fairfax, Laser Hire London (Dal & Darren), David Rawlins at Barker Shoes, Steve RSVR, Ian Brock, Andrew Hilton and Keith Park for the photos – more to appear shortly.

STITCH should hopefully be going live over the 5-7th October 2012.

VOTE FLOW @ the National Lottery Awards

Exciting news!

FLOW has been shortlisted in the 2012 National Lottery Awards, the annual search to find the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects, and is the first time an art project from Northamptonshire and the East Midlands has made the semi-final stage! 

If the project is successfully voted into the final three, it will be featured on the National Lottery Awards 2012 television show which will be broadcast live on BBC One later this year.

Voting for the semi-finals starts today Tuesday 26 June and ends at midday on Sunday 22 July.

FLOW OUT…

The FLOW project is taking some time out over the spring / summer months but hopes to return with some new commissions later in the autumn.  Many thanks to artists  Steve Messam, Charles Monkhouse and  in particular Jo Fairfax for taking part and making the project such a great success - it has been an absolute pleasure working with you guys, I’ve loved every minute of it. 

Big thank you also to Fishmarket/NAC, in particular Christine Midgeley, Catherine Hemelryck and Sally-Ann Blaise for all their help and support, Dal Badial / Laser Hire London, and thank you of course to the volunteers (Ryan & Derrick, top class). 

Finally, my personal thanks must go to the growing army of FLOW photographers that have taken some amazing photos of the projects for the FLOW website.  Special thanks must therefore go to Maks Swiderek, Stu Phipps, William Moore-Thompson, Keith Park, Andrew Randall, Ian Brock, SteveRSVR and Andrew Hilton.

Northampton LIGHTHOUSE – marking 2012 hours to go before the opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games

The latest FLOW commission – Northampton LIGHTHOUSE – takes place this coming Friday 4th & Saturday 5th May from 9pm – 11.30pm marking 2012 hours to go before the official opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Come and see the National Lift Tower in Northampton transformed through high powered LED light and laser beams.
